Forest habitats are of fundamental importance with regard to biological diversity. The German forest and timber industries are held up as exemplary models throughout the world with respect to the sustainability of forests and the efficient use of timber. At the 'Plaza of Diversity', the German forestry and timber industries are together planning to demonstrate their success as a branch of the economy, which produces and uses wood as a renewable raw material whilst simultaneously preserving biological diversity.. The forest and timber industries are exhibiting in a wooden pavilion, which has been specifically designed and built for the conference. The length of each side of the cube is 4.85m. Its volume corresponds exactly to the amount of wood which is renewed in Germany's forests every thirty
